Strengthening the Coffee Industry Value Chain through Collaboration
Jakarta - Around 100 participants, consisting of coffee farmers and MSME actors, took part in the 2026 Coffee MSME Curation Evaluation and Capacity Building Program, held on 15-16 April at Hotel Sari Pacific Jakarta. The program served as a collaborative platform between KAPPI and Bank Indonesia to strengthen the capacity of stakeholders across the coffee industry, ranging from quality improvement and business readiness to market development opportunities.
In this initiative, Bank Indonesia and KAPPI acted as strategic partners with complementary roles in strengthening the coffee MSME ecosystem. Bank Indonesia brought together its assisted coffee farmers and MSMEs as the main participants, while also reinforcing the foundation of business development in terms of operational capacity, production, quality, and overall business readiness.
At the same time, KAPPI contributed its expertise and network within the coffee sector, particularly through structured training, curation-based evaluation, capacity strengthening, and the exploration of follow-up programs such as productivity assistance and women’s empowerment within the coffee value chain. Through this collaboration, both parties aim to connect MSME development efforts with improvements in quality, knowledge, networking, and more market-oriented growth.

The second day of the program featured presentations and discussion sessions with several speakers who explored the development of the coffee ecosystem from various perspectives. Anisa Silvia, representing KAPPI, opened the session with an introduction to KAPPI and its programs supporting capacity development.
The session continued with Rusman Heriawan from DEKOPI, who provided an overview of DEKOPI’s role within Indonesia’s coffee ecosystem. Turning Evaluation into Concrete Action
The program also included an introduction to the Cup of Excellence, along with an interactive Q&A session aimed at broadening participants’ understanding of coffee quality and curation processes. KAPPI and Bank Indonesia also utilized this momentum to explore joint strategies to support preparations for trade promotion activities in 2026. This initiative is expected to strengthen the readiness of coffee MSMEs to access broader market opportunities.
This collaboration highlights the importance of collective efforts in strengthening Indonesia’s coffee MSME ecosystem. Bank Indonesia and KAPPI bring complementary strengths: MSME development and networking support from Bank Indonesia, alongside education, curation, industry networking, and market-oriented development initiative from KAPPI.
